Environmental Health and Safety Manager

C & B Material Handling, LLC (part of the C & B Equipment family), a leader and supplier of choice in material handling equipment, automation solutions, and industrial equipment rental, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager who will be based out of our Sioux Falls offices while providing coverage for all locations.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the company's safety programs and initiatives. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, promoting a safe work environment, and reducing the risk of accidents and injuries. They will work closely with employees and management to implement safety protocols, conduct training, and maintain a culture of safety across all company locations.

Essential Duties:

  • Safety Program Implementation: Working closely with operational leadership implements and maintains safety programs that comply with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety laws. Ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed by all employees.
  • Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and compliance gaps. Document findings and collaborate with management to address and correct safety issues.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, equipment operation, and emergency response. Ensure that all employees are adequately trained and aware of their responsibilities in maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation: Manage the reporting and investigation of workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses. Analyze incident data to identify trends and root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Maintain required safety documentation and ensure accurate and timely submission of regulatory reports, such as OSHA logs.
  • Emergency Response Coordination: Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans. Ensure that all employees are trained in emergency procedures and conduct regular drills to test preparedness.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among all employees. Promote open communication about safety concerns and encourage employees to report hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices. Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure the company's safety program remains effective and up to date. Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably within the material handling, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety laws.
    • Experience conducting safety training and site inspections.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in safety management software and MS Office Suite.
    • Ability to travel between company locations as needed; travel will be 50% of time or greater as needs arise. Benefits:
